Permeable Air & Water Barrier Membranes for Residential & Commercial Rainscreen Systems & Roof Underlayment from SRP

SRP Canada Breathable Membranes

The most significant factor effecting building durability is the control of moisture accumulation in the wall and roof assembly. SRP Breathable membranes are multi lay, spun bonded materials that control moisture intrusion and accumulation in the assembly by keeping external water out while allowing water vapour to escape.  SRP offers a number of different products to suit your building project.

SRP Canada Breathable Membranes, Underlayments and Rainscreen Systems include:

SRP AirOutshield

Breathable Underlayment for Rain Screen Wall Systems.

SRP AirOutshield™ is a triple layer, spun bonded, polypropylene, water resistant, breathable underlayment for rain screen wall systems.

SRP AirOutshield™ is designed for use as a secondary drainage plane, sheathing membrane, weather resistive barrier (WRB) or air barrier behind rainscreen wall cladding systems including siding (vinyl, wood, fibre cement, metal, brick) and shingles (metal, copper, zinc, cedar).

SRP AirOutshieldTM Benefits include:
  • High Breathability Rate: Allows moisture within the wall system to dry rapidly, thereby reducing potential for mould, mildew, rot, metal corrosion and reduced insulation thermal values.
  • Water Resistant: Moisture entering the wall system is quickly diverted before it can damage insulation and other components.
  • Durable: Tear, rip and puncture resistant reducing repairs and related labour costs.
  • Polypropylene: Provides superior resistance to the high temperatures associated with typical dark coloured cladding systems.
  • Self-cinching at fasteners: Minimizes penetration point leaks and the need for sealant.
  • “Dries In” Building: Can be installed and left exposed for up to 120 days allowing construction to proceed efficiently.

SRP AirOutshield™ UV

Breathable Underlayment for Open Joint, Rainscreen Wall Systems.

SRP AirOutshield™ UV is a double layer, coated polyester, water and ultra violet light (UV) resistant, breathable underlayment for open joint rain screen wall systems.

SRP AirOutshield™ UV is designed for use as a secondary drainage plane, sheathing membrane or air barrier behind rain screen wall cladding systems including siding (wood, fibre cement, metal, brick) and shingles (metal, copper, zinc, cedar). Especially suited for use in cladding systems where the membrane will be visible and resistance to long term UV exposure is needed.

SRP AirOutshieldTM UV Benefits include:
  • High Breathability Rate: Allows moisture within the wall system to dry rapidly, thereby reducing potential for mould, mildew, rot, metal corrosion and reduced insulation thermal values.
  • UV Resistant: Resists UV that penetrates through cladding systems. Tested in accordance with the stringent DIN EN 13859 - 1 European standard which includes testing before and after exposure.
  • Water Resistant: Moisture entering the wall system is quickly diverted before it can damage insulation and other components.
  • Durable: Tear, rip and puncture resistant which reduces repairs and related labour costs.
  • Polyester: Provides superior resistance to the high temperatures associated with typical dark coloured cladding systems.
  • Black: Provides enhanced aesthetics for open joint cladding systems.

SRP AirOutshield™ ROOF

Breathable Underlayment for Sloped Roofs

SRP AirOutshield™ ROOF is a triple layer, spun bonded polypropylene, water resistant, breathable underlayment for sloped roofs.

SRP AirOutshield™ ROOF is designed for use as a secondary drainage plane under roofing systems including metal, copper, zinc, slate, cedar, clay tile and other systems that require an underlayment.

SRP AirOutshieldTM ROOF Benefits include:
  • High Breathability Rate: Allows moisture within the roof system to dry rapidly, thereby reducing potential for mould, mildew, rot, and metal corrosion and reduced thermal insulation values.
  • UV Resistant: Can be installed and left exposed for up to 120 days allowing construction to proceed efficiently. Cover product in accordance with the “Extreme Weather Statement” on the last page of this document.
  • Water Resistant: Moisture entering the roof system is quickly diverted before it can damage insulation and other components.
  • Durable: Tear, rip and puncture resistant reducing repairs and related labour costs.
  • Polypropylene: Superior resistance to the high temperatures associated with typical dark coloured roofing systems.

SRP AirOutshield™ SA 280

Self Adhered, Breathable Underlayment for Rain Screen Walls and Sloped Roofing Systems

SRP AirOutshield™ SA 280 is a robust, self-adhered, triple layer polypropylene micro-porous film laminate with a proprietary, full coverage acrylic vapor permeable adhesive.

SRP AirOutshield™ SA 280 is designed to be installed in walls and sloped roofs behind the primary water shedding surface, SRP AirOutshield SA 280 functions as the secondary drainage plane and air barrier.

SRP AirOutshieldTM SA 280 Benefits include:

  • Self Adhered: Simply “peel and stick” the product to any compatible substrate without the need for primer. This virtually eliminates the need for fasteners, tapes and sealants.
  • High Breathability Rate: Allows moisture within the wall system to dry rapidly, thereby reducing potential for mould, mildew, rot, metal corrosion and reduced insulation thermal values.
  • Air Barrier: Tested as an air barrier assembly as per ASTM E 2357.
  • Water Resistant: Moisture entering the wall system is quickly diverted before it can damage insulation and other components.
  • Durable: Tear, rip and puncture resistant which reduces repairs and related labour costs.
  • Polypropylene: Provides superior resistance to the high temperatures associated with typical dark coloured cladding systems.
  • Self-cinching at fasteners: Minimizes penetration point leaks and the need for sealant.
  • “Dries In” Building: Can be installed and left exposed for up to 90 days allowing construction to proceed efficiently.
